Sleeping in a Box

Ok!! So I have worked out that I am pretty BAD at keeping up with this blogging thing. Sorry Jacqui, I definitly will get that recipe to you!!

I am TOTALLY going to blame work. Heaps of stress at the moment. BIG changes for next year and we are all trying to get our heads around it. Heaps of extra work which I am trying to get a start on so that I am not doing it all holidays!
So I am blaming that and the fact it is end of term (2 weeks to go!!YAY!!) and I am totally fagged out (he he.....funny saying)  Everyone is tired and cranky. Christmas parties have started and Paul has been doing some overtime too..... Yikes! CAN'T WAIT for holidays to do some creative stuff for myself. The list is endless of things I want to do.
Anyway a photo for Grandma.

The are so cute! And this wasn't set up. Chase just came and sat next to Jett and he put his arm around him. Even though they fight (their boys!) they do get along really well.

AND now the explaination for the title of this blog.

Paul's mum and dad got a new TV today and gave the box to the boys to play with. It is a plasma so the box is really skinny... Hardley enough room for anything. ANYWAY at lunchtime today when it was time for a nap (mum included although it didn't work out that way) Jett told daddy that he wanted to sleep in his box!! Paul indulged him (anything to get him to sleep) and set up a bed. NOW for claustrophobic me it is WAY too small and WAY too much like a coffin. But for Jett it was exactly what he wanted and proceeded to go to sleep. And sleep for 2 hours.

THEN when it comes to going to bed tonight he decided he still wants to sleep in his box. (Anything to get him to sleep!!) So i dragged it into his room and that is currently where he is.... sleeping in his box.....

Quote (when he got into bed) "OH MUM. Its SO comfy!"

Yikes!

The finished nappy... sort of

The Nappy has come along...... Please excuse the PEGS holding it together. I didn't want to put the velcro on because i didn't think it would fit. It seems to be a good fit. I need to make some adjustments over his butt! I extended the crotch because I didn't think it would fit but forgot to extend the material over the butt. Chase thought it was pretty good. He liked the pegs best!?!

So I will cut one out of flannel and go for gold. I need to get it right before I make one for my niece Caitlin (and one for her dolly!) 'cause my sister is very interested. She should be doing the prototype, your the Textiles Teacher sis!!

This was the boys lunch on Tuesday. My Bento inspired lunchboxes. I usually pack hot food for them one day and salad for them the other day. Jett always eats his salad, Chase not so much. Chase always eats his hot food, Jett not so much. Jett is still going through his 'i don't like food' stage. ALTHOUGH last night after a roast dinner he managed to eat THREE vegemite sandwhiches.

And lastly this is our latest pet, Dexter. He was given to us by some people at work. Paul is in LOVE with him. Buddy (our other snake) is feeling a little rejected. We were told Dexter was a Diamond cross Carpet python but Paul took him to a friends house and they decided that he is actually a Jungle Python. Apparently a rather good 'specimen' too!

I forget how busy the end of year is at work. This week alone I have had three staff meetings and I have another this morning starting at 8.00. Add in reports, swim school, organisation for next year and some finishing of assessments etc for this year and I really don't know how i get it all done.

Hope you have an excellent finish to the week.

This is pretty cool. Mum don't frown!

Funny thing just happened. I just changed number 1's room around so it looks like number 2's. I was trying to get it done before he saw it but i could here him coming down the hall. He walked into the room and had a look of complete HORROR on his face "What have you DONE!" he said.  So i had to quickly be all excited and talk about how much room he's got to play (make mess). He then conceded that it was 'perfect' (Must be the word of the week)

A Busy Week

Well this week has been really busy. Work is at that time of year when reports etc are due. (Yikes!) The marking that has to be done. (sigh) And we are waiting to hear what we will be teaching next year and who with.

On the home front, Number 2 (I think I might refer to them by number at the moment. I know it's harsh but easier. Till I decide what I am going to do re: names etc)has started sleeping in a 'big bed'. Came home on Wednesday and hubby had dismantled the cot and put up a big bed for him. He is doing really well although is worse than Number 1 at falling out during the night. Four times on Friday! Found him stuck under the bed with his foot sticking out (like the witch out of the Wizard of OZ, when the house landed on her. he he) I put it against the wall yesterday and it was only 2 last night.

Number 1 slept in his bed last night. I finally put summer sheets on yesterday and he was watching me make the bed. When he went to bed last night he said "i want to sleep on the floor" and then when I put him in bed he said "Oh mum, its PERFECT!!" Make me laugh. He still didn't sleep there all night though.

He is so attached to that Diego doll. SORRY 'boy' (It's not a doll! Its a boy)

I think I have the 'adding' photos thing now.... Maybe.... Touch wood.....

On the home front, last week-ends cooking was mums boiled pineapple fruitcake. Very nice although I think I boiled the mixture too long.

Also made washing powder for the house husband to do the washing on Friday. I am not sure about the 'cheapness' of it yet. I might have to make the liquid or go back to the environmentally friendly one i used to use.

I sewed the nappy together. This is what it looks like now.

The next step is to put in the elastic and the velcro. I think that it is going to be too small. Lucky I havn't cut anymore out. Anyway we'll see. The crutch looks awfully long.

To finish on (at the moment) the boys riding their bikes this morning.

Looking over my post I think that this will become a "diary" of events which I am pleased about as I go through stages of taking photos. It will help me remember things especially about the kids when they are little. I guess I will develop my own 'style'.
(I really need to think about doing something about taking photos. They're pretty generic. Probably need to learn to 'edit' them before I post)

My Kids Looks

Who do you think this looks like?

Home Made Nappy

So here is 'Prototype 1 A'. I followed a basic Wee Weka Nappy pattern with changes. In the photo (from the back) is the outside layer, a layer of ripstop nylon, a 'pad' of bamboo batting, then the lining and then the inside 'pocket' to hold the soaker....

I am still yet to sew them together and add the elastic.

I took the top photos last night in complete black. I had to have a torch to see if i was pointing in the right direction. I don't know how to move them down????

-- is insisting on sleeping on the floor. He is currently sleeping on that really thin matress that goes in the port-a-cot. I havn't decided if i will put the kids names on or not. I guess it doesn't hurt???

Starting

Woah! way EASY!! You should do this. Don't know who will read this hopefully no-one but you.
